BRINDABELLA CHRISTIN COLLEGE

Located in Lyneham, Australian Capital Territory, Brindabella Christian College is at the forefront of incorporating cutting-edge energy efficient products and technological advancements into its campus infrastructure. In addition to being the first carbon neutral private school in the country, the college was also awarded Energy ZNE for its 15 Classroom Junior School building. The building houses over 100kW of solar modules, which enables the generation of clean energy and the reduction of the college’s carbon footprint.

One notable addition to the campus is the commercialisation of the first Solar Tree by EVT Energy in 2020. Solar Trees are an excellent example of how solar modules can be utilized for both clean energy generation and architectural design, while also serving as an educational tool. Greenplate and EVT Energy collaborated closely in the deployment of this project, integrating the innovative AUS-E Tree with the Greenplate Solar Standalone BBQ system.

The AUS-E Tree captures energy from its solar modules and charges the Greenplate Solar Standalone BBQ System. The BBQ system is designed to connect intelligently to a simple and user-friendly educational application that shows the amount of power generated and used from the system.

The Solar Barbecue provides carbon-neutral cooking, replacing the college’s previous gas BBQs. This addition not only showcases the benefits of using clean energy solutions but also serves as an educational tool for future generations. It highlights the importance of utilizing sustainable energy sources to create a greener and cleaner future.
