GOLD COAST LIGHT RAIL
G:link, also known as the Gold Coast Light Rail, is an innovative Light Rail system serving the Gold Coast.
Following a rapid success after its Stage One opening in July 2014, the Queensland Government announced plans to extend the light rail line from the University Hospital to the Helensvale railway station in February 2016. The new extension includes 7.3 kilometres track and 3 new light rail stations, including Helensvale, Parkwood and Parkwood East.
Penfold Projects was engaged as the trusted contractor for the extensive softscape on this project. The extent of works comprises the line’s Main Corridor area, Parkwood station and its Park & Ride area, Parkwood East station and a terminus station in Helensvale. Operating within a tight time frame and a sizeable planting schedule, our teams collaborated with the council to ensure all locations’ landscapes were established to a consistent quality level, while delivering a unique appeal and look to each site.
Scope includes supply and installation of topsoil, planting of a wide array of tropical plants and ex-ground mature trees, as well as minor hardscape works. Penfold Projects is proud to yet again contribute to another cornerstone project of the Gold Coast that will be used by generations to come.
