CHRISTIE OFFERS DESIGNERS TOTAL FLEXIBILITY

Christie Parksafe provided the solution needed for architects on the Prima Tower project to overcome the challenge of creating an outdoor eating area nine floors above street level.
The soaring Prima Tower apartment block is Melbourne’s second tallest residential building. The size and splendour of this construction set many a challenge for the architects. One of these challenges was to design an outdoor eating area located nine floors above the street - without compromising the style and splendour of the complex.
Prima Tower was designed to be a complete living experience; so outdoor eating and cooking was always going to be a prerequisite. With 661 apartments, any outdoor cooking area needed to be able to cope with a substantial volume of traffic, particularly on weekends.
The difficulty was that normal park barbecue structures were never going to be a good fit aesthetically with a building as architecturally spectacular as the Prima Tower.
The answer was Christie Parksafe’s custom fit ‘Drop-In’ cooktops. These totally self-contained, stylish, outdoor cooking appliances simply ‘drop in’ to any bench that meets the Christie safety standards for height and positioning.
This solution gave the architects of Prima Tower the freedom to design an entire barbecue area that blended perfectly with the rest of the building. At the same time they could be confident that the cooking facilities would be state-of-the-art, just like the rest of the building.
The end result is a large and inviting space that is visually stunning. With three cooktops and plenty of bench space, the area can comfortably cope with large crowds of residents and their guests, while also being easy to operate and maintain.
