202020 Vision, an organisation dedicated to creating 20% more green space in our urban areas by 2020, and Good Design Australia, an international design promotion organisation, have teamed up in a non-financial partnership to create a new standalone award.
The new 202020 Vision Green Design Award concentrates on recognising excellence in green urban space and design. The award is focused around the 202020 Vision Plan Project ‘The Directory of Good Design’. This project is an online resource currently under construction that allows users to upload and showcases best practice design solutions centred around creating or improving existing urban green spaces.
The award is open to any business, project or product that is designed with green space in mind. This award would be most relevant to landscape architects, contractors, designers and horticulture specialists looking to get their green projects recognised.
Finalists will be selected from a range of categories, and judging parameters will include the extent to which their project, product or design contributes to more and better green space. The criteria also takes into account the degree to which the project, product or design contributes to health and wellbeing, a greater appreciation of plants and trees as well as other benefits including biophilia, air purification and water sensitive urban design.
The judging criteria and judging panel will be determined by the 202020 Vision team and each finalist selected will feature in the Directory of Good Design and in a report in ‘The Australian’ newspaper.
Entries for the 202020 Green Design Award 2016 are due to close on April 15. The winning entry will be announced at the Good Design Awards Ceremony and Gala on May 27. The winning entry will be showcased in the Good Design Showcase Exhibition which is open to the general public and takes place during the opening weekend of Vivid Sydney.
