AN INNOVATION IN CONCRETE RESURFACING
09 Feb 2017
Bescon is delighted to announce the release of Spraytex™, a new innovative concrete resurfacing system that maintains product integrity without impacting design requirements.
Resurfacing can be an arduous process, but with Spraytex™ the process just got easier and more creative. The Bescon Spraytex™ system offers a method for concrete resurfacing that can be used for a variety of applications, including pool surrounds, roads, driveways, commercial floors and textured wall finishes. It has even been used to give precast concrete panels the appearance of real bricks!
The Spraytex™ system was originally developed in response to the challenge of how to permanently enhance in situ exterior precast concrete panels without distracting from the current streetscape. A number of finishes were considered, including casting the panels in coloured concrete, textured paint finishes and tiles. However, none of these options met the desired criteria of the project developer, or came in on budget.
Eventually, the developer sought the assistance of Bescon Industries. Bescon suggested the use of their Spraytex™ system, which incorporates the use of Bescon Statop® colour hardener mixed with a Bescon Allbond® bonding agent. This was then sprayed onto the concrete panels over a brick stencil to produce the desired effect.
To assist with application, at the recommendation of Bescon, the developer contacted Sisic Concreting for assistance. The collaboration between all parties resulted in a permanent, colour-fast finish with the appearance of real brickwork. The combination of Bescon products and the Spraytex™ system produced an end result with superior protection from the elements and exceptional value for money.
The Spraytex™ system is available in a variety of colours. It can be applied to both vertical and horizontal surfaces simply by mixing Bescon Statop® with Bescon Allbond® bonding agent and spraying onto any existing concrete substrate with a hopper gun or line fed sprayer.
Benefits of the Spraytex™ concrete resurfacing system include:
Abrasion Resistance: (Chaplin Abrasion Testing) Complying with BS8204 1987 Part 2. Up to 30 times greater than the concrete applied to when using Allbond® as the bonding agent.
Adhesion Strength: No 2233 (AS 1580.408.5-1994) 188 PSI. Demonstrated satisfactory adhesion strength to the concrete. Samples supplied in accordance with BS8204 Part 3 1993.
Colour fastness: No 2231 (AS 1580.481.1.2). No colour change after 2000 hours accelerated weathering.
Compressive Strength: (AS 2073-1977) 84.6 MPa. The MPa is greater than the above test result when using Allbond™ as the bonding agent.
Friction Resistance: No 2091 (AS 1141.42) 71.4 PAFV. Demonstrated satisfactory friction values in accordance with AS 3661.1.1993 and BS8204 Part 3:1993.
Combining Bescon products with the Spraytex™ concrete resurfacing system offers a superior product choice for a multitude of applications, giving you the ability to seamlessly navigate existing streetscapes without impacting design requirements.
