ARTIFICIAL GRASS FOR HAPPY CAMP PLAYSPACE
13 Oct 2022
APT Asia Pacific might be known for manufacturing some of the highest profile sports surfaces in the world, but are also about bringing the colour and fun to playgrounds through its range of artificial turf and soft-fall surface solutions.
The recently opened Karingal Hub Happy Camp playspace at Karingal Hub Shopping Centre in Melbourne, is taking the shop, play and stay concept to a whole new level. After surveying the children in the local community, Karingal Hub Shopping Centre worked closely with Craig Tan Architects to bring to life the children’s dreams and ideas for the ultimate outdoor playscape.
The fully enclosed vertical maze, of almost three storeys, takes inspiration from the popular board game Snakes and Ladders with multiple challenges, pathways and adventures. There is a climbing wall and frames, bridges, platforms, rope areas, side swings, a giant slide and undulations on the ground. For added wilderness effect, two trees were planted amongst the towers, which can be peered through when up in the towers, creating a truly sensory experience.
Grassports Australia, one of APT’s leading agents, was engaged to install the playground’s surface. The company recommended APT’s SYNLawn Coolplay artificial turf due to its exclusive COOLplus Technology which keeps the surface cooler by 10-20 percent, its huge variety of colours and its Australian-made quality and durability. The surface system included a rubber ProPlay shock absorbing layer made from recycled materials to ensure the playground met the critical fall guidelines and Australian safety standards.
APT Asia Pacific offers a range of playground products that can be used to create safe, striking and long-lasting surface systems. Tested for Australian conditions and backed by market-leading warranties, its range includes EPDM and pre-coated SBR rubber granules and mulch for soft-fall surfaces, as well as artificial turf in natural green or a variety of fun colours. Customisation available upon request.
