CARLINGFORD SPORTS PAVILION OPENS

The $3.2 million JJ Brown Pavilion at Peggy Womersley Reserve brings the facilities at the much-loved ground into the 21st century including new changerooms, storage facilities and a kiosk.

City of Parramatta chief executive officer Gail Connolly PSM said it’s a win for the local community. “Carlingford deserves state-of-the-art facilities,” Ms Connolly said. “The new JJ Brown Pavilion has everything a local sports team needs off the field to back a win on the field. It’s an exciting step forward as we transform Peggy Womersley Reserve and other suburban grounds into top quality sports facilities.”

The new pavilion has been named in honour of the former Federal Member for Parramatta, the Honourable John Joseph Brown AO, who served the community in Federal Parliament for 13 years from 1977.

Minister for Sport, Steve Kamper, said that projects like these show the NSW Government’s commitment to helping create spaces and facilities that enable communities to enjoy and take part in sport. “Local sporting infrastructure plays a critical role in keeping communities healthy, active and connected and these new facilities mean the Peggy Womersley Reserve will better meets the needs of the Carlingford for years to come.”
