05 Dec 2023
Shigeru Ban Architects has unveiled its plans for the first resort-residence development in the Maldives.
Infinite Maldives is set to cover 5 hectares of island and overwater space. Designed in collaboration with Crystal Property Group, Infinity Maldives includes various beachfront villas as well as 44 overwater bungalows with private infinity pools. In addition to the private areas of the residence, the resort will include a fitness centre, spa and wellness facilities for guests’ enjoyment. This luxury escape will be a premium oasis for many travellers seeking the ultimate relaxation getaway.
Keeping to an eco-friendly ethos, Infinite Maldives will incorporate sustainable practices, local materials and biophilic design in its making.
Harmoniously blending into the tropical environment, the landscape is inspired by Sri Lankan gardens, thanks to the clever design mind of Michel Desvigne.
Shigeru Ban Architects told designboom, “Our approach focused on the landscape design first, ensuring a seamless connection between water, land, and vegetation, promoting continuity between indoor and outdoor spaces.”
With Reza Magdon Ismail, CEO of Crystal Property Group including to designboom, “We are proud to be delivering the first resort-residence and one-of-a-kind opportunity in the Maldives, which is a huge milestone for the country and a great achievement for us. We share the same ethos and ambition to create extraordinary living spaces that harmonize with the environment they sit in and align with the overall spirit of the Maldives.”
