Generally, individual landscape rock has specific properties to suit specific applications, however Mud Rock has proven to be one of the most versatile rocks for a variety of landscape projects. Often referred as River Mud Rock, due to its composition of sedimentary rock in various earthy shades, it is a fine-grain silty rock derived from ancient deposits. Mud Rock can be split into thin plates along well-defined planes, making it extremely versatile for a variety of landscape uses. It is ideal for water features, retaining walls, steps and garden edges in all domestic and commercial designs.
Mud Rock in its natural form can create some unique and always stunning landscape designs. Two recently completed projects utilising Mud Rock from Rocks Plus demonstrate its versatility and attractive qualities.
SUBURBAN PRE-SCHOOL
A suburban pre-school playspace was the site for a design that utilised Mud Rock as steps and seating, as well as a retaining wall. The earthy tones of the rock blended well with the environment, helping to retain the ‘natural’ feel of the landscape. The large pieces used provided stable and strong structures with which to form and hold the landscape, while the flat face of one plane provided a convenient climbing wall for kids that will stand the test of time.
DOMESTIC DELIGHT
Equally at home in a domestic landscape, the smaller Mud Rock plates utilised for this residential project offered the versatility and stability required to create a series of zoned areas. Creating retaining walls, garden and vegetable beds, and even an impressive water feature out of Mud Rock added a classic charm to this extensive landscape design in a durable material that will help the area to retain its attractive lines.
