SCHOOLS DRINKING DIFFERENTLY
27 Aug 2020
Schools across Australia are seeking out innovative refill stations to complement the traditional bubbler system. Find out why Urban+ refill stations are growing in demand.
For decades, schools have used the traditional bubbler system to quench the thirst of busy students and, while it has served its purpose for decades, 2020 has proven that times are changing. There is now a strong call from students and teachers across the country to retrofit refill stations into schools to accompany bubblers as a new practical and sustainable solution.
There are three reasons why refill stations are increasing in demand.
WASTEWATER
We all know water is a precious resource and Sydney Water's recently released Water Conservation Report has revealed that Sydney water losses amount to more than 47 billion litres a year - or the equivalent of about 52 Olympic-sized swimming pools per day. Wastewater is a big issue.
Schools are becoming increasingly concerned about water runoff waste and believe a refill solution can significantly reduce their water wastage contributing to a more sustainable future.
TIME TO FILL
The lunch bell goes and students flock to the bubblers to fill up their bottles to get them through the day but they’re faced with an inefficient queue as the water trickles impracticably over the nozzle into their bottles.
Students want a quick and practical solution for their hydration needs.
NO TOUCH SOLUTIONS
As most students in Australia are now back in schools, teachers are conscious of the growing need for better hygiene practices as a result of COVID-19.
Urban+ refill stations come with a push system that allows students to use their arm rather than their hand to refill their water and reducing the mouth-to-bubbler contact offers an additional safe practice.
HOW URBAN+ IS LISTENING
Urban+ has designed a new range to complement existing bubblers. This range fits seamlessly above school bubbler systems to create an all-in-one wet area, making use of existing plumbing to reduce installation costs. This range is an extension of Urban+ popular BF200 Refill Station, which is currently used in schools, sports clubs and parks across Australia.
