The 2012 Landscape Queensland Construction Excellence Awards Gala Dinner celebrated Queensland’s landscaping industry’s highest achievers.
The 2012 Landscape Queensland Construction Excellence Awards Gala Dinner was held on Saturday 3rd November 2012, and celebrated Queensland’s landscaping industry’s highest achievers. This year we had an outstanding level of competition with record entries across 19 categories. Not only do the awards acknowledge and celebrate the talented work of contractors, it also acknowledges the training and development of young apprentices and trainees.
The 2012 Construction of the Year award was awarded to Ace Landscapes for their work on the Stone Ridge Estate in Narangba. The ‘outdoor classroom walk’ wins primarily because the quality of the workmanship is almost flawless. In an industry that works with organic materials, site, weather, time and cost constraints this level of workmanship is hard to achieve. Ace Landscapes reused timber rescued from the site to construct an arbour, boardwalk, fence posts and railings, logs, bollards, seats and sculptures along with the successful transformation of an eroded waterway that promotes and protects the bio-diversity of plants and wildlife habitat. The overall quality design, construction, and rejuvenation of the environmental park corridor, has put this project on the podium as a highly valued asset for the client of Ace Landscapes.
Not only did they take out the big award but Ace Landscapes received two other awards for the same site, Stone Ridge Estate, for Environmental Value Commendation and Commercial #4 categories. Ace Landscapes also received a highly commended award for another project, Kentia St Carseldine.
Another big winner of the night taking away 6 awards was Landscape Queensland member, Scape Shapes. Scape Shapes were finalist in nearly every category and became category winner in Residential #1, Commercial #1 and #3, the Million Dollar Plus category, the Irrigation Award and also the Training Award for their “Transforming People, Transforming Environments” program.
The Gala dinner was a successful night for Queensland’s landscaping industry, giving members a chance to mingle and celebrate the year’s work, with all their achievements and creativity being displayed to their peers.
