TOGA CENTRAL
06 Mar 2024
Receiving its State Significant Development Application approval, TOGA Central will be an iconic gateway for Sydney’s most productive and energetic neighbourhood at Tech Central, combining the beauty of the heritage-listed former Parcels Post building, to be retained on the site, with inspiring new architecture and public spaces.
The 42-storey commerical office and hotel development has been commissioned by the Toga Group. The building will join the cluster of commerical developments planned for the 'Tech Central' innovation corridor, neighbouring the Atlassian development and Dexus and Frasers Property's dual-tower devlopment.
The high-rise will feature a ten-floor hotel, twenty-two levels of commerical offices and retail and dining tenancies on the ground floor. The development is designed with a focus on the public space, as a destination for people to shop, socialise and relax.
Concepts for the development have been designed by Bates Smart, selected through a design competition. The contemporary tower will incorporate the existing heritage building on the site, the former Parcel Post Office, with Toga managing director Allan Vidor acknowledging the longstanding importance of the building at the intersection of George, Pitt and Lee streets.
“Bates Smart’s winning design pays respect to the heritage of the site while also creating a vibrant new food and beverage precinct that will anchor the precinct and create a world-class destination and connect Surry Hills across Central Station,” Vidor said.
The development will strive for some of the highest sustainability standards available, targeting carbon neutrality through operations as well as next generation tech-enabled cyber security infrastructure.
