Sikkens Cetol BL Tannin & Oil Remover is a specially formulated water-based timber preparation product manufactured by Akzo Nobel - the world largest coatings company to prepare new exterior hardwood/decking prior to coating/staining.

Applied directly on to the hardwood timber surface, this eliminates the need to wait months for new hardwood to weather by encouraging oils and tannins to be drawn to the surface and removed from the timber substrate.

For many years the professional advice has been to allow new hardwood decks to naturally weather for a minimum period of six months to allow the natural tannins (extractives) to naturally remove themselves from the timber fibres.

Premature coating/staining of hardwoods will result in unsightly blemishes down the track caused by these natural tannins. Applying Cetol BL Tannin & Oil remover eliminated the 6-month weathering process and allows coating/staining of the deck in 24 hours. 

Sikkens Cetol Deck & Wood CleanerSikkens Cetol Deck & Wood Cleaner is a fast acting water-based oxalic acid gel that takes just 15 minutes to revitalise and brighten grey and weather timber. It is ideal for large surface areas such as decking.

The unique non drip gel formula sticks to the surface of the timber ensuring an optimum cleaning ability. This feature is excellent for vertical surfaces.

An application of Cetol BL Deck & Wood cleaner is advisable on a timber project for the removal of dirt and grime prior to re-coating.
