CIVENEX GOES HIGH TECH
08 May 2013
Just one week before CIVENEX returns to Sydney’s Eastern Creek, organisers have unveiled a new mobile app to ensure visitors won’t miss a beat.
Just one week before construction and public works expo CIVENEX returns to Sydney’s Eastern Creek, organisers have unveiled a new mobile app to ensure visitors won’t miss a beat during the two-day event, May 15th and 16th.
Now visitors can use the app to find their way around the show, quickly learn what’s on and when, and plan their expo experience in real time. Event manager Frank Sticka says visitors should go to www.conferenceexpoapp.com.au on their smart phone, create a user name and select CIVENEX, then bookmark the CIVENEX link on their device.
According to organisers, this year’s show is shaping up to be even bigger than last year, with innovations in everything from engineering, construction, excavation, paving, pipes and landscaping to arbor, environmental, water, sewer, trucks, sweepers, waste, roads and traffic, power equipment, signs and much more.
Councils to benefit from new Dial Before You Dig iPhone app
Building on the hi-tech flavour of this year’s event, Dial Before You Dig will unveil its new iPhone app at CIVENEX. Free from iTunes, the app extends the company’s popular phone service and uses GPS and mapping technology to pinpoint the user’s location where works are required. It then provides a plan showing cable and pipe locations at the site - in just a few hours via fixed or wireless broadband. Also available for iPad, the app will make it faster and easier to accurately convey a safe digging location and will particularly benefit regional councils working on large parcels of land with few landmarks. The Android version is due out soon.
