Concrete Plinths for the Commonwealth Games 2018

Borobi, the official mascot of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018), stood tall thanks to Benzini. They created 13 concrete plinths for the Borrobi Fan Trail, an 8.5km walking and cycling route linking key GC2018 sites.

Benzini used a rubber mould to cast the concrete, with a life-sized statue of the blue koala attached afterwards. The plinths also feature a patterned ring inspired by Indigenous art. Each statue of Borrobi featured a different GC2018 sport, including basketball and swimming.

The Borobi Fan Trail encouraged visitors to get active and experience more of the Gold Coast, from the Optus Aquatic Centre to Broadbeach. The statues also link to a game on the official CG2018 app.
