Bamboo Poles - House of Bamboo

Three childcare license play areas at the Ashfield Infants Home Childcare centre were carefully designed to accommodate children and their carers with all abilities while providing a playful, challenging and stimulating outdoor areas. The brief for UmbaCo Landscape Architects and NBRS + Partners was to create a natural play environment for inner city children with rocks, sand, timber and water amongst lots of plants and hiding places.

The design considered a balance between quiet and busy places using layering of outdoor rooms. Bamboo poles from House of Bamboo were used cleverly as posts to create a fence and separate play areas. Rather than use traditional fencing the poles provided an elegant natural screen. Poles were placed throughout the play area and blended beautifully with the natural elements of water and sand.
