Easy Access

Beach access is now easier than ever at popular Blacksmiths Beach in NSW, particularly for users with reduced mobility since Lake Macquarie Council completed a 60 metre floating boardwalk. Using Enduroplank™ decking secured to recycled-plastic joists, this ‘floating’ construction allows the boardwalk to follow the undulations of the dunes.

"Using the recycled plastic product is intended to provide a longer lifespan than the traditional timber raised boardwalk surface used in beachside locations in the past. Due to its innovation, council will look at using recycled plastic materials in future beach access projects." John Ferguson, Manager Community Planning
