Islamic College of Melbourne

Some of the most used spaces in a school aren't classrooms. They're the places where students gather, talk, wait for friends or sit quietly between classes.

Some of the most used spaces in a school aren’t classrooms. They’re the places where students gather, talk, wait for friends, or sit quietly between classes.

That thinking shaped the furniture StraBe delivered for the new Islamic College of Melbourne Admin & Wellness Centre. StraBe worked with the project team to create a series of informal gathering spaces, including custom curved seating around the central tree, a conversation pit, curved Lemo benches, café tables and more throughout the centre.

The curved seating quickly became a natural meeting point. A simple idea that creates a place people want to use.

All pieces were made with StraBe's TimbAlloy aluminium battens and powder coated in Pale Eucalypt. It gives the warmth of timber with the durability of aluminium, and no ongoing maintenance for the school.

Designed for high use environments. Built in Australia. Made to last.
