PARKS & LEISURE AUSTRALIA (PLA)
COMPANY PROFILE »
Parks & Leisure Australia (PLA)
Parks & Leisure Australia (PLA) is the leading industry association for parks and leisure professionals in the sector. Its aim is to build, serve and develop a strong and united parks and leisure industry in Australia.
Our Vision
For Australia to be the most liveable country in the world, renowned for its parks, sport and recreation facilities, which provide the foundation for healthy communities and liveable towns and cities.
Background
PLA has a history dating back to 1925, when it was known as the Victorian Tree Planters Association. In 1962 it became a national body known as the Royal Australian Institute of Parks and Recreation. Finally, in 1998 a merger with the Australian Leisure Institute gave birth to Parks & Leisure Australia.
The organisation's strategic plan, Towards 2025, sets out a future pathway for the organisation, to ensure it remains relevant to members and establishes a solid foundation on which to build a strong voice for the sector.
What Do We Do
As the national peak body for the people behind the places, PLA supports its members through the provision of training, professional development, research, advocacy and a range of products and services to support you and the industry. Its members are diverse, with individual needs, priorities and desired levels of support.
