ARTIST PROFILE

Terrance Plowright is a well-known Australian sculptor with a growing international profile. In 2013 and 2015 Terrance was chosen to represent Australia at the Florence Biennale, during which he was awarded a prize for his sculptures and a Medici Medal on both occasions. In 2013, Terrance was awarded People's Choice Award for the sculpture Tubular Resonance during the McClelland Survey.

Throughout his career Terrance has been awarded many major artistic commissions, both in Australia and abroad. In recent years, Terrance has been commissioned to design and create works for Holsworthy, the Australian Catholic University, Bondi Junction, Sydney Cricket Ground, Hyde Park, City of Parkes, Adelaide, Derby in Western Australia, Gough Whitlam Park, Shepparton in Victoria, and the Deutsche Bank in Sydney, among others.

In 2016, Terrance undertook a 16m-high contemporary sculpture celebrating 60,000 years of nationhood - Uniting A Nation - which was commissioned by Basil Sellers as a gift to the Australian people, with the blessing of the State Government. Uniting A Nation will reside in a prominent public space and is expected to be installed in late 2018.

Terrence has worked professionally as an artist/sculptor for over 30 years and excels in the exploration and use of a variety of media. With a background and deep interest in music, philosophy, science and the relationships of living forms, Terrance works on developing themes that endeavour to reveal the interconnectedness and innate intelligence of all life, as well as the profoundly powerful and beautiful nature of existence.
