2020 AILA LAND-E-SCAPE: RESET – TOWARDS HEALING
16 Sep 2020
AILA is excited to launch a virtual conference escape in 2020. Join people from across Australia and the globe as AILA creates something new and exciting that enables members to learn, engage and connect.
If 2020 has taught us anything, it's that complacency is something we can no longer afford. As landscape architects, AILA recognises the complex interconnectedness of planetary systems and the dynamic relationships between people, places and other living entities. AILA also recognises that we can choose the way we move forward.
In a year marked by the ferocious sorrows of bushfire, Black Lives Matter and COVID, we have also been given the opportunity to pause. Land-e-Scape: Reset – Towards Healing invites landscape architects to collectively pause, reflect, discuss and explore the ways our profession can contribute to what comes next. How do we heal our relationships with nature, with the places we live, work and play, and with each other?
Across four themes, AILA will explore the opportunities and acknowledge the work already underway:
- Recuperation (Monday) | Healing from event shock including sessions on bushfires, COVID19, Rebuilding Beirut and Landscape without borders
- Repair (Tuesday) | Healing the planet including sessions on climate change, urban green initiatives and blue meets green
- Restore (Wednesday) | Healing spaces that allow for enhanced connection and wellbeing including sessions on biophilic landscapes in education; healing gardens, designing for health (autism, Alzheimers) and war gardens
- Reparation (Thursday) | Healing fractured relationships including sessions on gender equity, traditional knowledge, community engagement and opportunities for traditional owners in national parks
WHAT TO EXPECT
Land-E-Scape will be held on a dedicated virtual event platform. Each day will feature at least four hours of CPD content plus a mix of some pre-recorded on-demand content for you to binge at a time that suits you. Live sessions will be recorded and made available and hosted on the website for up to 12 months after the event.
The platform will allow networking between delegates and social engagement so you can stay connected with colleagues.
