A Little Bit of Sunshine

Ramm Botanicals is excited to introduce Sunburn, a non-invasive, sun-loving Australian succulent unlike anything in the market. With its brilliant flowers and compact habit, it is the perfect plant for sunny rooftops and vertical gardens!

A Little Bit of Sunshine

There are some plants that just love hot weather and xDisphyllum ‘Sunburn’ from Ramm Botanicals is definitely one of them. This heat-loving variety has been bred for Australian conditions and is one of the very few Australian native succulents commercially viable and available to the landscape market.

A Little Bit of Sunshine

Unlike the common pigface that only flowers for a few weeks each year, Sunburn produces large, vibrant orange flowers almost year-round. These flowers produce very little pollen and don’t attract bees, making it an ideal plant for health sensitive areas with minimal risk for allergies.

Sunburn is also an infertile hybrid, so it can’t produce seed and therefore won’t creep or smother its neighbours. This is great for mass plantings among complementing varieties where Sunburn can thrive and show off its Australian green and gold colours, without the risk of it smothering the rest of the garden.

A Little Bit of Sunshine

Not only does Sunburn look incredible but it also has a myriad of desirable growing qualities for the amenities market. This plant can grow in all soil types, from heavy clay soils to sandy loams, and can also endure poor water quality such as bore water, grey water or saline water. As a sun-loving plant, Sunburn has proven that it handles humidity very well, flourishing in warmer climates.

It’s also drought tolerant, cold tolerant and frost tolerant, having survived the harsh Canberra winter. Its tight foliage results in a compact ground cover without any unsightly gaps, resulting in Sunburn being an ideal plant for weed suppression.

A Little Bit of Sunshine

In the highly competitive succulent market that exists today, Sunburn stands out as a premium variety with superior characteristics. With its hardiness, adaptability and vibrancy, there’s no doubt that Sunburn is a fantastic addition to your next project, whether it be retaining walls, rockeries and embankments, or rooftops and vertical gardens.
