AILA launches Australia’s Best Playground Competition, calling landscape architects and designers to submit finished projects that illustrate well designed public playspaces.
The Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) has launched a new competition to find Australia’s Best Playground. To celebrate well designed public playspaces, AILA has invited its members to submit finished playspace projects for consideration. The national winner will receive an all-expenses trip to Lapsett in Finland. Regional winners will win a free ticket to the 2016 International Festival of Landscape Architecture: NOT IN MY BACKYARD.
Projects for the competition can range from adventure playgrounds to cross fit circuits to waterplay to senior fitness courses. Entries will be judged by an expert jury comprised of Daniel Bennett, AILA National President, James Grant FAILA (JMD Design), Gary Ford AILA (Outlines Landscape Architecture) and Dr Barbara Chancellor (TMIT University & Play Australia). The ‘people’ also get a voice with People’s Choice voting contributing to the winners chances.
Entries can be submitted from now until 15 March 2016. Finalists will be announced on 20 April and the national winner announced 24 May 2016.
