Twelve months ago the City of Perth approached MPS Paving Systems Australia with a unique set of design requirements and asked, “Can it be done?” Naturally they said, “Yes!” The end result – simply spectacular!
Local StreetPrint™ applicators LD Total, working in collaboration with MPS Paving Systems and the City of Perth, helped to create a stunning display on time and on budget utilising the StreetBond™ surfacing system.
The Museum Street project designated the enhancement of the North Bridge area, between Aberdeen Street and Francis Street. Originally separated by railway tracks, the City of Perth wanted to improve the flow of pedestrian traffic between these areas. Locating the railway underground required new pavement, which was to be the stage upon which new improvements were made to increase street appeal and entice pedestrians back to the area with a fresh new look. Popular with University students and tourists, this area forms the hub in the cultural centre of Perth.
The makeover for the precent included the installation of retro-style street furniture and new mature trees to create a more pedestrian friendly space. The crowning touch was the application of StreetBond™ surfacing to deliver a kaleidoscope of colour in bold geometric patterns. Distinctly modern in design, the unique colours of the Museum Street project were a custom palette created to meet the specifications of the architect’s vision.
Aerial images of the street offer stunning views of the complexity of design achieved and highlight the scale of the project. At ground level the final result is immediately engaging and welcoming.
