Equal Play for Meade Reserve Park

Georges River Council is delivering, yet again, for the local community. This time it is an inclusive adventure playspace at Meade Park, Allawah, designed and constructed by Moduplay.

Equal Play for Meade Reserve Park

The Moduplay design considerations include adaptable play opportunities, universally designed pathways, gates, furniture and play equipment, multiple seating options, and passive areas away from activity zones for rest and quiet play.

The project incorporates diverse zones for all ages and abilities, with activity zones that provide subtle separation for toddlers. For the young and inquisitive, a sensory-focused play zone with stimulating and imaginative activities allows for social play and sensory learning. Features include an infinity mirror, voice tubes, a junior inclusive carousel, and a Zulu inclusive rocker and car rocker.

For older audiences, the central area boasts an accessible multi-play climbing unit with interactive elements at ground level, such as mounded trampolines and an all-access carrousel. This area includes graduated challenge units. Adaptable play opportunities are facilitated with the Bushwood Hut and balance trail in a side garden area, surrounded by multiple pause points for caregivers and children to take a moment to rest.

An inclusive swing area presents a Triple Bay Combo Swing Set with an all-abilities seat, co-located with toddler seats, a nest and standard seats. A multi-age zone includes challenging elements for teenagers, such as a Wildnet Konnecta Senior Combination Unit to promote agility, strength and coordination with climbing net elements and monkey bars. Colourful weaving bars add an element of design and help keep the zones separate while allowing for free exploration between zones.

Hidden among the existing trees and garden, Bushwood nature elements interlace seamlessly with the natural elements to create a tranquil nature space. The Bushwood Adventure Trail weaves throughout, promoting agility and balance.

The design allows room for an informal kickabout space and a central gathering point with Precinct Street & Park Tathra shelters, tables and chairs. Bike racks, bins, a drinking fountain and a double BBQ unit make the space perfect for families and weekend picnics.
