An old industrial warehouse in Alexandria, Sydney, will be transformed into a “vibrant and welcoming” multipurpose recreation centre that will promote community activity.

The concept designs were developed by Collins & Turner Architects.

In order to tackle the lack of sporting facilities in Alexandria, Council purchased the building near to Sheas Creek with the purpose of converting it into a recreation space.

The large interior of the warehouse will be transformed into four multipurpose indoor courts and a two-storey showroom. The exterior area will also be revitalised and new greenspace will be added. The design of the warehouse of create a strong connection between the internal and external spaces and will promote natural air and light.

A “vibrant and welcoming” facility will be created through a sculptuiral front and a deck created with rainbow battens.
