Geofabrics Releases EPDS for Megaflo Green and Bidim Green

Geofabrics Australasia is the first geosynthetic manufacturer in the region to release independently verified Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for its Megaflo Green socked slotted drain pipe and Bidim Green non-woven geotextile.

Geofabrics Releases EPDS for Megaflo Green and Bidim Green

Published through EPD Hub, these third-party verified declarations comply with EN 15804+A2 and ISO 14025, providing quantified insights into the products’ environmental footprint.

This information helps engineers, designers and asset owners make informed, sustainable decisions at a time when reducing carbon emissions and conserving resources is becoming a key consideration in civil infrastructure design and procurement.

Developed using One Click LCA, independently verified and based on 12 months of Australian production data with cradle-to-gate assessment boundaries, the EPDs report detailed metrics on carbon footprint, energy use, water efficiency and recycled content.

MEGAFLO GREEN

Megaflo Green is a wide, flat-shaped drain pipe system designed to provide rapid sub-surface drainage in civil engineering applications such as roads, retaining walls and sports fields. It demonstrates outstanding environmental performance, with a Global Warming Potential of only 1.87 kg CO₂e per kg and a net negative total energy use of –4.72 kWh per kg, reflecting energy recovery efficiencies. It also delivers strong water-use efficiency at –0.15 m³ per kg and is manufactured with an exceptional 99.7% secondary (recycled) material content.

BIDIM GREEN

Bidim Green is a premium non-woven geotextile used for separation, filtration, and drainage in infrastructure projects including road, rail and mining applications. It supports strong sustainability outcomes, recording a Global Warming Potential of 4.34 kg CO₂e and total energy use of 16.3 kWh per unit. Water-use efficiency is optimised at –0.14 m³ per kg, while the product incorporates 22.1% secondary material content, supporting circular material use.

Made in Australia, Megaflo Green and Bidim Green are produced at Geofabrics’ Albury facility in New South Wales, using controlled manufacturing processes and recycled materials, ensuring consistent quality and minimal waste. Local production lower transport-related emissions, supports Australian jobs, strengthens the supply chain, and contributes to the circular economy. The EPDs provide verified, transparent data, demonstrating the sustainable outcomes of Geofabrics’ manufacturing.

Dennis Grech, CEO of Geofabrics Australasia, said, “Geofabrics has a long and proud history of Australian manufacturing, building a strong value chain that supports local content and employment. There is a growing expectation from our customers and partners for credible, verified information on the environmental performance of the products they use. Through EPDs, we certify the depth of our local content and offer a measurable environmental footprint for these products. By supporting our customers and helping to de-risk their projects, our EPDs give them confidence in the environmental credentials of our Australian made products.”
