The proposal forms part of a broader transformation from Landcom which will see 108 hectares of land near Glenfield Train Station turned into a vibrant new community with up to 5,200 homes over the next 15 years to support one of Sydney’s key growth areas.
The proposal supports a diverse mix of homes including detached, semi-detached, attached dwellings and apartments, alongside shops, businesses and new public spaces, helping more people live closer to transport, jobs and amenities.

Landcom Chief Executive Officer, Alexander Wendler said, “Opportunities to shape an entirely new community at the scale of Glenfield West are rare, and this proposal reflects a strong focus on delivering density done well with a mix of housing, transport access and high quality green open space integrated from the outset.”
Key features of the rezoning proposal include:
- a mix of housing types, with higher density development centred around Glenfield Train Station to create a vibrant new town centre;
- building heights of up to 22 storeys near the station, transitioning to two to three storeys in the western areas of the precinct;
- new parks, sporting fields, and playgrounds;
- a new neighbourhood centre in the western part of the precinct
- improved walking, cycling and public transport connections.

Minister for Planning and Public Spaces, Paul Scully said, “This proposal is about delivering density done well. New homes will be supported by parks, open space, transport connections, and community infrastructure to ensure the area will thrive for decades to come.”
