Josh's House - the half way point

It’s three months into the six month build time at Josh’s House and things are really taking shape!

In Episode 3 of their on-line video series, Josh will bring you up to speed with everything that’s happened on site. They take a close look at the wall types and wall insulation they’ve installed to achieve a 10 Star rating on a budget and Josh takes a tour of the factory where his bricks were made to find out more about them.

They also give a personal insight into how Josh and his family are coping with the project.

Wall types and thermal performance

With the brick work completed, the focus of work shifted to the framed walling. There’s been a lot of interest in why they’ve chosen a mix of wall types. It’s actually very simple – they want the best properties of each. They’ve used double brick where they needed the thermal mass (as well as sound insulation), reverse brick veneer on the exposed east and western walls to maximise insulation potential without losing internal mass, and insulated stud walls where mass isn’t required.

Download the fact sheet to see how they’ve done it.
