NEW 750 STUDENT PRIMARY SCHOOL ANNOUNCED FOR FRASERS PROPERTY’S MIDTOWN MACPARK
25 Oct 2023
The New South Wales Government has announced a new 750 student public primary school will be built at Frasers Property Australia’s Midtown MacPark.
The new vertical school will provide a range of amenities including a rooftop recreation area, library, play spaces on each floor and covered outdoor learning areas.
Sited adjacent to the central Village Green Park, the school will also benefit local residents whom are not parents, as facilities will be available for public use outside of school hours.
The school will complement the shared amenities at the master-planned community including a pay-as-you-go commercial pool and gym, the 3,300 sqm central Village Green including a community centre, social enterprise café, children’s playground and landscaped amphitheatre.
The development of the school will mean residents of Midtown MacPark will have access to educational facilities ranging from childcare all the way to university either within the community, or within walking distance.
Midtown MacPark will include two childcare centres, one operated by Montessori Academy for a minimum of 75 children within the precinct’s MAC Residences apartment building, and another located near the new primary school. The Montessori Academy recently had their fit-out development application approved by Ryde City Council and anticipates commencing operation in early 2025.
The NSW Government has further plans to develop a primary and secondary school, for up to 3,000 students, as part of an extensive mixed-use education campus at nearby Macquarie Park.
The acclaimed Macquarie University, ranked in the top one percent of universities worldwide, is situated 600m from Midtown MacPark.
Scott Clohessy, Development Director, Frasers Property Australia, said the confirmation of the new primary school meant future residents and prospective buyers can feel confident in choosing Midtown MacPark as a place to raise their families.
“With childcare, and now a primary school, within their own neighbourhood, Midtown residents can be confident that their children’s educational needs will all be met without the need to leave their suburb. This is what walkability and liveability is all about,” he said.
In addition, Midtown MacPark is located near the commercial hubs of Macquarie Park and North Ryde and 500m from the new Macquarie University Metro station, which provides quick and easy transport access along the new Sydney North West Metro.
The expansion of the North West Metro, due to open next year, will see trains go directly through to Barangaroo, Martin Place and Central.
An all-electric mixed tenure community designed for 100 percent walkability, Midtown MacPark is a vibrant and inclusive community bringing more open space, new amenity and infrastructure including a central Village Green, pocket parks and playgrounds, cycling and walking trails, a commercial pay-as-you go pool and gym, community centre, as well as shops, cafes and beauty offerings, and so much more.
Sustainability principles underpin the development. Midtown MacPark has been awarded a 6-Star Green Star Communities rating from the Green Building Council of Australia and will be a carbon neutral community in operation. Provision for a car share scheme, solar power and the reuse of stormwater are just some of the other environmentally friendly features.
Interested buyers can now choose an apartment within the Soul or MAC buildings and move in early next year. Those who need more time to save could opt for the landmark Treehouse building, with its sky garden rooftop and namesake three-storey open communal Treehouse Rooms overlooking the Village Green, which is set for completion in late 2025.
