The program backs projects from concept to completion, with grants of up to $1 million available across three categories, including design and planning.
CATEGORY 1: $15,000 to $100,000
CATEGORY 2: up to $100,000 for facility design and planning projects
CATEGORY 3: grants up to $1,000,000 for construction projects
This year's funding round has a focus on climate resilience, ensuring clubs can withstand extreme weather and severe storm events, as well as boosting participation so more people from all backgrounds can get involved in surf life saving.
QUALITY OF FACILITY AND INCREASED PARTICIPATION
- Improve the safety and/or quality of the Surf Life Saving facility
- Improve the adaptability and/or inclusivity of the Surf Life Saving facility (for all people)
- Increase capacity of the Surf Life Saving facility to service members and the public
- Increase membership registrations and/or participation
ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY & CLIMATE RESILIENCE
- Improve the environmental performance of surf clubs, consistent with industry best practice
- Enable surf clubs to identify and implement practical opportunities to reduce operational energy use
- Enable surf clubs to improve water efficiency
- Strengthen surf clubs’ resilience and preparedness for climate-related and severe weather events
Minister for Sport Steve Kamper said, “From the Northern Rivers to the South Coast, we're backing the clubs that keep our beaches safe all year round. Storm-proofed clubhouses, more volunteers through the door, safer beaches for everyone. That's what this program delivers.”
