PERTH’S PARADISE ELLENBROOK IS ADDING SOMETHING NEW TO ITS LOOK

After its successful completion and award-winning liveability and design, construction is now beginning on a new train station and line, strengthening the town’s transit.

Construction began on Ellenbrook in 1995, as a project headed by both the WA department of housing and LWP, a project management group headed by Executive Chairman Danny Murphy. The town is connected by Whiteman Park regional recreation reserve, the State Government Gnangara pine plantation, and the vineyards of Swan Valley. This makes for an attractive, innovative, and community-oriented town that is surrounded by some of Perth’s most alluring natural locations
Despite being 10 kilometres from any metropolitan area, the site is the most regarded urban development project in Australia with 30 state and national award wins. The town’s picturesque walkable neighbourhoods, bike paths, and public spaces all encompass the Ellenbrook town hall with flawless town planning at the root of the town’s success. Formerly a sand quarry on Perth’s northeastern fringe, the town is now home to 30,000 residents.
Co-founder and Partner at Hatch RobertsDay Mike Day, who aided in forming the vision for Ellenbrook, noted that it always included a transit corridor that justified the 40-metre-wide reservation that was included.
“Urban planners, governments and developers need to be futurists and visionaries: from the outset, they need to look beyond a town’s immediate use and plan for how it will be used in 20 to 30 years. Ellenbrook is the benchmark in vision-based planning," Day continued.
Now the site is made up of 11,500 homes, and eight walkable villages, with many residents able to walk or cycle to work and school. This resulted in many residents repurchasing in the area. Danny Murphy said this success comes as;
“Ellenbrook puts the community at its centre. From day one, we ensured residents had access to all their daily needs by developing community infrastructure, including a school, childcare centre, shops, and a rapid bus service. Now, nearly three decades later, the Western Australian Government, which has always supported the vision of the transit corridor, has commenced construction of the Morley-Ellenbrook Line.”
With the completion of the station expected by late 2024, residents can look forward to yet another innovative and community-focused addition to the town that includes a 12 stand bus station and 500-bay car park. People from Perth will also have easy access to the new town, with only a 30- minute commute via the METRONET Morley-Ellenbrook line.
