Egg-like pods work together to offer an interconnected network in the project proposal by architects Planning Korea. The proposal is in response to ‘Reinvent Paris,’ a scheme put forth by the French capital city, playfully encouraging architectural groups to have a go at prefiguring the Paris of tomorrow.
The project appropriately entitled L’air Nouveau de Paris, or The New Air of Paris, is located above the boulevard Périphérique ring road of the 17th arrondissment; one of the 23 different sites dotted around the perimeter of Paris, offered to the architects.
In addition to a name that reflects the futuristic nature of the proposal, L’air Nouveau de Paris simultaneously draws from, and calls to mind, the complex microorganisms found in nature. With numerous references to the environment it comes as no surprise that sustainable urban living is a key feature.
The interconnected network of pods will be open to residents; living accommodation that would offer panoramic views of the iconic French city. Furthermore nightfall would see the distinctive pods illuminated. Not solely a residential complex, there would be opportunity for commercial offices as well as public retail spaces.
Winners of ‘Reinvent Paris’ will be able to purchase or rent the terrain to see their plans realised.
