ASpace has led the development of the open space obstacle course category creating an innovative solution to get youths outdoors and active. Unlike structured exercise spaces, Park Warrior is designed to provide a fun challenge and friendly competition. This leads to increased health and fitness becoming a positive bi-product of the activity as opposed to its principal purpose.
With several Park Warrior courses now in operation and delivering spectacular outcomes, they are quickly becoming a ‘must have’ in communities across Australia.
Addressing the disturbingly low levels of physical activity amongst the youth demographic in Australia required innovative thinking. The ASpace design team hit upon the idea that the solution needed to lead with fun, challenge and a digital interface. Hundreds of obstacles were conceptualised and through thorough research and user testing a_space refined the final selection that makes up Park Warrior. Combined with the Park Warrior App, a formula was created that ASpace was confident would deliver the desired results. The results have been exciting.
Adding dimension to Park Warrior, the app engages users and provides more reasons to keep them returning. The app allows users to register and record their times, compare their times with others and aspire to top the ‘leaderboard’. The app also provides tips and instructions for each obstacle and more.
Safety was also a key consideration in the creation of Park Warrior. Designed to comply with the Australian Playground Safety Standard AS4685 the range offers a measured blend of challenge, risk and safety.
Behind the design of each Park Warrior course is a plan to build the strength, coordination, balance and flexibility of users.
