Based on the shape of quartz, the new street furniture collection manufactured by Hungary-based manufacturers Ivanka was presented at Design Miami 2016, displayed in-situ in two different locations.
Originally created in stainless steel, the reinvented QTZ collection has been realised in concrete by Australian designer Alexander Lotersztain and is suitable for a variety of applications, including public spaces.
“As a designer, there is no greater satisfaction than to collaborate with a company that focuses on innovation and strives to push the boundaries of the material to new levels. I am excited to see the evolution of QTZ in concrete and showcase Ivanka’s expertise in the field; creating a new contemporary urban element typology”, expresses Alexander Lotersztain.
The 4-piece furniture suite consists of two lounge chairs, one with a headrest, one without, a table and a footrest. Based on naturally occurring forms and crystallisation process of quartz, the faceted concrete pieces make a designer statement in a range of colours - off-white, mouse grey, rock grey, green and tobacco.
"This collection of concrete seating elements reflects the design's prismatic beauty as a contrast to the metal collection, and explores architectural qualities of the material and marks the constant search for innovation of Ivanka's experienced research and development team," said the brand.
